Nerve problems and pain
Hello last Sept I had a full hip replacement whilst the actual surgery was a success unfortumately I suffered nerve damage. This has resulted in numbness to calf area and foot. Whilst some areas of foot have some feeling large areas are still numb. I have some movement but not great. I am unable to go on tiptoes on that foot. Also some areas have become massively over sensative. In that if I bang or stand on the smallest lump it is excrutiating. My worry is that this seems to be increasing to point of affecting mobility. Oh leg is red/purple and still swells up as the day goes on. Sorry its a moan

I think you should look into RSD... this can follow trauma or surgery.
Here is our RSD forum: http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum21.html The color changes, suggest this. I'd get another opinion, to make sure the surgery was done correctly, too. |

I read about this when I was doing my research on hip replace. As I need to get my Rt hip replaced and I already been dealing w peroneal compression at my Lt side. for 6 yr I'm sure when u signed the paper for this surgery, one of the risks was nerve injury. They probably dont specify which nerves. I wish u the best! Keep us posted! Rhonda Not fun! I would ask your hip surgeon about the peroneal nerve compression as one of the risk to hip surgery. I'm surexwhen u signed |
Sorry takes a wee while to navigate and find way round site. Yes I did sign that risk of nerve damage etc. However apart from registrar refering to peroneal nerve everyone else diverted this as much as poss, its anesthetic or shock. Pain persists and taking sock of is well looks funny as foot jumps about. Walking has become an issue as it feels like walking on hot coals at times.
Oh consultant is on long term sick and I have to see another in May re second hip, lightening never strikes twice does it. Must ask Lee Trevino. Legin THR Sep 14 |
