I'm here because I do not know where else to turn.

Briefly, my problems started about 3 years ago, just after the birth of my son, I had a list of symptoms as long as your arm and was initially given antidepressants. Fast forward a few months and I was eventually diagnosed as hypothyroid. Continuing on the journey, only ever feeling "normal" fleetingly, I saw an endo who gave me a combination treatment for my hypo and said there was nothing more to be done.

At this point I begged my GP for help, his exact words were 'I've never met an OAP with chronic fatigue syndrome.' I'm 31 yrs old and struggling with normal life but it's ok it will get better on its own in about 35 years :rolleyes:

Having my arms get pins and needles whilst driving, causing me to briefly lose control of the car, made me see another doctor for another opinion. I was at this point sent to a neurologist and it is roughly where I am now. I have met him, he did some tests, basically hit me with a hammer, poked me with a pin and watched me do a sobriety test :D

I am booked in for an MRI on the 22nd of this month and 4 days later an evoked potential test.

I'm a little bit lost with it all if I'm honest and just hoped other people may understand, so here I am :)

Hi Donna,

Sorry you had to make your way here but welcome to the forum. It is a soft place to land. Just curious, when you say combo treatment I take it you mean replacing both T3 and T4? Did they check your Vitamin B12 and D levels? so common for them to be low...

I have been tested for b12 and it was within range. I'm prescribed vit D indefinitely, as it was low, but it has returned to a good level now with the capsules. Yes I do mean a t3 and t4 treatment, in my mind my problems have to be something to do with the thyroid because they started at the same time but I'm told my blood results are perfect :confused:

I know it's a pain dickering around with the thyroid meds but IF you end up with no answers at the end of this it may be worh looking at again. I understand, I had my thyroid crash after the birth of my son too, he is now 14. It was identified pretty early because I was so exhausted and not enjoying anything I thought I had post-partum depression! Lucky for me my PCP thought to check it. TSH was crazy high. It took a long time to settle everything out and I ended up on cytomel and levoxyl. cytomel was added after I still felt bad but with "perfect numbers". So the numbers can be deceiving, there can still be adjustments that make a difference for the sensitive. I noticed I feel better on one brand than another after levoxyl went off the market and I had to switch to synthroid. Same dose, better response. Who knew? Some people swear by Armour and others don't tolerate the ratio at all. Others don't do well on the minute differences in generics which are allowed a slight range over brand. It can just be inherently difficult to manage a med measured in micrograms! Hang in there and feel better soon.
