MY MRI report. Please advise if I should see a neuro surgeon or neuro physician?
Findings:-Transitional vertebra is seen at lumbosacral junction which is to be considered as S1 for description in current study. For exact numbering MRI/Radiographs of whole spine is suggested.
Straightening of normal (lorotic) lumber curve is noted, most likely due to muscle spasm. Multiple multilevel schmori nodules are noted. Marked dessicatory changes are noted affecting all visible lumbo-dorsal discs. Conus medullaris is at L2 disc level. L4-L5 shows moderate to marked broad based disc bulge causing sever cetral canal stenosis & sever narrowing of lateral recesses & neural foramina bilaterally. Moderate diffuse thickening of ligamentum flavum is noted at all lumbar levels. No focal area of abnormal intensity signals noted in the lumbo-sacral vertebrae/visible spinal cord. No compression or collapse of vertebral body noted. Paravertebral soft tissues show normal signal intensity. IMPRESSION Moderate to marked broad based disc bulge (L4-L5 level). Thanks you in advance for your valuable advise. Bashir Ahmad |
How did you get the MRI? Were you referred by your family doctor? Your MD can probably help you determine the next steps.
To my knowledge you would see a neuro or orthopedic surgeon if your problem was operable. “Moderate to marked” seems significant you should talk to your doctor about the result. |
