hi can anyone help me understand my results please... There is normal vertebral alignment with preservation of the vertebral body heights. There is loss of disc height with degenerative dehydration at the L5-S1 level with end plate degenerative changes. The conus medullaris is at its normal physiological level. At the L4-5 level and, there is a posterior disc bulge, without any central canal or foraminal stenosis. There is no impingement of the exiting nerve roots. At the L5-S1 level, there is a central and right posterolateral disc protrusion and facet joint degeneration. There is bilateral neural canal stenosis, with impingement of the exiting L5 nerve root. The central canal is capacious. So sorry for the long post, this is my mri scan results, been in terrible pain for months, have been signed of work until I have seen a spinal surgeon, but can anyone help me understand these results. Well to me your 2 biggest points i see are 1) the L4-L5 area has a diac bulge, but the good news is according to the MRI, does not impinge the nerve, an 2) you have an impingement of the nerve has l5-s1, which is where the disc has pushed out enough to impinge on the nerve which may indeed be causing your symptoms! I would definitely take it easy and listen to your body on what you do an dont do an try to get into a neuro/spine dr soon as you can to get thw exact answers you need and want. I had a blown l4-l5 disc in 2012, had a laminectomy & discectomy after all other non surgical tried. However re herniated it less than a month post surgery and now have l3-s1 herniated. Always try conservative first and if a surgeon wants to do surgery without trying non conservative id highly recommend a 2nd and 3rd opinion first! Im 29 y/o now an slowly learning to deal with what began with a blown disc while working as a medic. Sometimes life changes are a tough thing but work out in the end, but always take all of it one day at a time! Let me know if i can help you out with anymore ?s, hope you feel better & best of luck!
