thumb tremor

I've noticed that when I have my arm resting on a desk, my thumb will tremor or make tiny movements back and forth. It may happen at other times but this is the only time I notice it. I have thought for a while that I have compressed nerves in both arms but EMG says no. When I had my EMG it seemed like they only tested below my elbow. They didn't test across my elbow or my shoulder. Could I have compressed nerves and the EMG didn't pick it up because they didn't test higher up? ( I don't know too much about how EMG's work, maybe they don't need to test higher up? )

First thing to do is try to distinguish if you are having a tremor or a muscle twitch (fasciculation). A fasciculation is a pulse contraction of a muscle.

Fasciculations in muscles of the hand can cause what looks like a tremor but is not. I had this in both my hands that caused my index and thumb fingers to move back and forth.

There is something called Benign Fasciculation Syndrome and one of the symptoms is tingling/numbness/pain in the hands and feet.
