PonS Neuromodulator!

So the first FDA approved device for TBi is on the fast track by the army and will be coming out around the fall of 2016. Its known as the PoNS. This sounds exciting, have you people heard of this? And its implications towards fixing PCS. Also, creating huge improvements on people with gait and balance issues.

@ Hockey and Mark and the old timers on here, are you guys excited about this ? WIll you be trying it out once it is available? Might be a good stock to get into.

PoNS is the system that uses electrical stimulation of the tongue to influence neuro-regulation that is supposed to support neuro-regeneration.

From what I read about it elsewhere, its expected benefit is limited to specific brain issues, not the broader needs with PCS. But, time will tell.

There are other systems that sound more promising.

I will keep my money away from such a risky stock.

FYI

There was an older thread regarding PoNS .

Some recent discussion in the Parkinson's Disease Forum as well.

I found this recent article. The PoNS is not yet FDA approved. It is being studied for use with TBI subjects who have balance and gait problems. In Canada, it is being studied for these issues related to MS. It does not appear to treat any other TBI symptoms.

Not true!

No Mark from what I have read it actually fixes a whole host of problems associated with a TBI other than balance and gait issues. It super charges the brain so it becomes more plastic, in Doidges book there are three different TBI patient that make almost complete recoveries because of PoNS.

It takes these people over two years of constantly using it to see these results but it works on a lot more than just balance and gait.

Ted Carrick uses a device that stimulates the tongue and other points on the body. It is an Somatosensry evoked potential device- which is FDA approved for diagnostics, but Carrick uses for treatment. It did help my son. In four years, it was the only thing that he said helped him feel better. We stayed three days at Carrick and plan to return for longer. I think the PoNS shows great promise.

beverlyz,

In what ways did it help your son ?
