Does this happen often?
I received my approval letter about 4 weeks ago. (Naturally, I was thrilled after waiting 2 yrs.)
What really surprised me is that the Judge ruled that my benefits should begin on the date that I had my surgery. It was my understanding that benefits usually begin on the date the application was received by the Social Security office. My failed surgery happened over a year before I applied for SSDI. It made a very big difference in my favor. Is this something new? Thanks, Nancy |
I dont think so, it can go either 17 or 18 months, i forget which, before your application, if that was when you became unable to work. ONe year of backpay before the application and the 5 month waiting period.

That seems right.
Joe,
Thanks for the response. Your information seems right. Have a good night, Nancy |
i applied for my ss and was aproved within a couple of months. within a week and a half or 2. i recieved the check for the time i should have been covered (there is an entire year that falls into the you took to long to file gap. They base the decision of when you could feasibly not do anything for yourself. they use the day you stopped doing things you normally would. did you go back to work between the time you were hurt and the day you had surgery. if you give them a call or email them they can send you a documentation of the decision. on that you can see when they decided you became injured to an acceptable degree and the payment schedule, so you will know when and how much you will get.
