Neurologist in Portland Maine/Boston
Hello all,
Wondering if anyone has a recommendation for a doctor (neurologist/ other type of specialist) who really knows what they are doing in regards to MTBI in the northern Half of New England. (I live in Maine but only 2 hrs from Boston) In nearly 2 yrs since my injury, i've seen close to 20 medical professionals, most of whom ended up being expensive and unhelpful. However, I have been unable to find anyone who I really felt had a grasp of the big picture. I have made a great bit of progress, especially in the last 9 months, and I am hoping to finally go back to school in the fall. However, I'm still fairly symptomatic, and it very much affects my ability to function in many aspects of life. It's been a while since I've had an appt. with anyone, but I think that going forward, it would be good to have someone who understood my injury, and is truly aware of the different treatment options out there. So please let me know if you know any doctors who are genuinely very knowledgeable (they are clearly hard to come by) in the Portland/Boston area. Thank you so much- It's hard. I truly wish you all the best!! Jamie |
Jamie,
It all depends on the symptoms you are struggling with. Not all/many concussion symptoms are treatable. I doubt anybody understands a broad enough spectrum of concussion symptoms to address the big picture. There is a world renown concussion research center at Boston / Mass General. But, I don't think they have any miracle treatments. Here is a link. http://www.massgeneral.org/children/...s.aspx?id=1689 |
Hi Mark,
Thank you so much. I've heard good things about the program there, so I think I'll check it out. Also, I've been off and on this site for the last couple years and just wanted to say thank you. You have helped so many people on the road to recovery and/or acceptance, not just in people you respond to, but also everyone who is looking on. I think I can speak for a lot of people on this site when I say that you have been an incredible and perhaps the best source of knowledge throughout the journey towards healing. Thank You. Also, If anyone else has a specific doctor perhaps at mass general, in mind, I would love to know. Jamie |
