Add one to the PN misdiagnosis list....
Palmar-Plantar Erythodysesthesia [sp?] also known as 'hand-foot syndrome'..
This is a cancer/chemotherapy induced neuropathy so it seems. Meaning a Toxic neuropathy. A friend of mine had to go to a specialist in NYC to get this diagnosis. If you 'web' it up, tho, prognosis is as vague as any others... DUH! - j |
naming it like this adds nothing, as far as I can see. It's a toxic neuropathy, and if the chemo is done, she's ready to mend.
The great thing is that once the toxin is removed, peripheral nerves can regenerate, so this is the one time following the regimens about vitamins and exercise and massage, etc, can pay off many times over. It's likely that many of us with idiopathic neuropathy who have improved had it as a result of an exposure that is hidden. good for her. |
