Vitamins and minerals for wound healing
Hi,
I am Amit from Mumbai,India. I just had a cut on my right foot toe. I am a diabetic. I have put my query in the 'Diabetes forum'. The wound has healed considerably in the last week. Only the skin has not yet come up. What vitamins to be taken for speedy wound healing ? I read Vitamin C and A help in collagen formation. Any others that may help ? Also is topical honey useful for wound healing. I have been using Betadine . But I read this somewhere - so just had a doubt. Does honey help ? -Amit. |
Zinc in moderation helps, as do the Omega-3 fats like flax oil.

I did just come across this however, and you did mention diabetes. http://www.hindawi.com/journals/ecam/2011/295494/ Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine Volume 2011 (2011), Article ID 295494, 5 pages Commentary Methylglyoxal—A Potential Risk Factor of Manuka Honey in Healing of Diabetic Ulcers |
I have used Castor Oil off and on for years and have been off it for a while but am now back on it for joint inflammation and just re-reading a lot of sites on the benefits of CO and wounds were mentioned on some....CO has been in existence for MANY years, an ancient oil. I dilute it some with some essential oils as it's thick, but good to read up on it for wounds.

Oh yes, topically, I've read some links that give 28 benefits of CO. Althou, over the years of CO, it's been taken internally for constipation....I do not take it internally as my dosing thru the day of magnesium keeps everything working smoothly for me...mag is so critical for so much. Just the other day, a health guru sent thru a note that 80% are deficient in the U.S. so some experts say, but he said it's more like 99%. Thanks..
