Stopping the. I think. I might have ALS threads in the ALS section

This sub forum is riddled with these types of threads and it makes me sick.

I can only imagine someone that is dx'd with ALS having to wade through these my muscle just twitched to I kinda feel weak today threads.

It must be highly offensive/insulting.

In reality what these new folks are describing are symptoms that could be linked to other issues.

It would probably make sense to sticky a note that you will black hole these types of threads in that sub forum and suggesting these folks post in the member introduction or other broad forum more related to the symptoms they are presenting.

Thoughts?

It was inactive sub-forum of ALS, so we've gone ahead and closed it. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

I probably used the wrong term here. I was actually talking about the ALS main forum... Which I probably used the incorrect term sub forum.

It seems that a majority of the threads on the first page are the "I think I might have ALS" threads.

Yup, coming here to ask others if one might suffer from a condition or concern is perfectly normal and something our community offers anyone who needs the emotional support.

We neither want to change nor restrict that, since it's a core part of what an online community like this offers -- hope and support for the newly diagnosed or those who are concerned they may meet the diagnostic criteria.

In terms of the numbers of people who do it, it comes and goes.

Best,
DocJohn
