thinning of optic nerve
ok. more to worry about. I went to see an ophthalmologist because my eyes have been very dry, blurry and "foggy". I have also had instances where I have a blind spot in one eye. I have only noticed it at night so far. What happens is I can hold my hand out and I can't see my hand (area is just black) but I can see stuff around the black area. It only seems to happen with my left eye. the ophthalmologist did some testing and said my optic nerve is thinning she will inform my neuro. She said it may be a consequence of my neuropathy. I have been doing a little searching online and there is nothing GOOD about this. My vision has been foggy and blurry more and more lately. I'm scared about losing my vision. anybody else have this? I wonder if the nortriptyline contributes to this at all? (not the thinning nerve , but blurry foggy eyes as a side effect? ):(
how is this moving sooo fast! |
See your other post, where the eye can be affected by Behcet's disease.
What you describe can be also a bleed into the retina. Usually they do an angiogram for that though. Your eye doctor should be able to see the bleed when looking into your eye. I had one of those night vision losses, you describe. Mine was from a stroke in a vein in my retina. It took 6months to heal up. I had a light purple haze in the same blind spot, during the day until it healed up. It never happened again...but I have to take blood pressure pills to prevent another, and also control my emotions, etc and not let anger or fear overwhelm me... which raises the blood pressure which then can stroke out the eye again. |

Your eye doctor should be able to see the bleed when looking into your eye. the dr did say she looked at the circulation in my eye and it seems fine. She noticed a freckle...I asked what that means/is and she said everybody has freckles on their skin, you just happen to have one in your eye. I said "oh.." I felt silly. |
I am so sorry you are having eye trouble on top of everything. I can't address the blind spot but I can confirm having had blurry/foggy vision on nortriptyline. We made a minor dose decrease from 25 down to 20mg and it resolved.
