Sophie12 ,

Welcome to NeuroTalk. I am sorry to hear of your struggles.

It is not uncommon for personalities to change after a brain injury. If the stroke was to a part of the brain that effects emotion and such, there is usually not a recovery to be expected. Some can learn to develop a mechanical sort of emotional connection. It takes counseling and discipline and lots of patience.

Have you sought help with counseling for both of you ?

Hello Sophie,
Welcome to the NeuroTalk Support Groups.

I'm sorry to read about the changes in your relationship with your spouse after their strokes. I hope you have friends and family that are supportive. I wonder too if you've ever been involved in any type of support organization for caregivers?

I just wanted to let you know that there are a couple of other forums here at NeuroTalk where you might also like to check or post.

Sophie,

My prayers for the 2 of you. This brain stuff is tough on all
Parties directly involved.

Bud
