Vitamin B12 thread

It was suggested that vitamin specific threads should be added to the main board.

I've been taking Vitamin B12 for roughly two weeks. I have noticed some improvement. However, I don't think I can attribute it all to B12.

On somemornings I feel really good and have a lot of jump. Should I still take a regular dose of B12 or do you think should experiment with a smaller dose, or perhaps no dose at all on those days?

I take 1000mcg daily (500mcg sub-lingual X2)

What kind do you take and which type ? (methyl or cyano?

Tests were done on volunteers and it was found that 1000mcg (1mg) taken orally on an empty stomach yielded 13mcg actually absorbed according to blood tests. So one needs to at least take 1000mcg daily.

Methyl form is the best, as it is activated and ready to go to work.
Cyano has to be changed, and some people lack the genes to do so and therefore it doesn't work as well.

Here is my B12 thread:

I took methyl. I woke up feeling pretty good given the circumstances and now i feel quite wired!

I took a supplement and it made me feel wired too, turned out I had bipolar 2. I didn't believe it until I got severely depressed afterwards.

Can you please expand on Bipolar II?

I was quite wired when I took it and then had a bit of a crash in the afternoon. I was quite lethargic even though I felt relatively decent otherwise.

What are the symptoms of Bipolar II, how were you diagnosed, and how are you coping?

I wish you the best.

I did some anabolic steroids which the withdrawal gave me major depression, needed to take zoloft and risperidone for a year, got told I would make a full recovery but when I came off it I decided I wanted to go back on the zoloft due to having helped my ocd. I also started taking astaxanthin. I had increased energy and talkativeness and was diagnosed with bipolar. I stopped both the zoloft and supplement per advise of my doctor. The energy continued. Then about 4 months after I suddenly became severely depressed out of nowhere and that's when I accepted the diagnosis.
