do opiates reduce your symptoms?

I was told to take ibuprofen by my doctor and it didn't seem to do much, then one day the pharmacy was out but they had ibuprofen with codeine and it helped, my headaches, nystagmas and fatigue went away.

I told my doctor this and he said the symptoms must be psychosomatic and that codeine doesn't change anything.

I have had pcs for 15 years following a fight where I was hit in the temple 3 times. The only thing that has helped is exercise and now codeine.
I'm waiting on results from a ct scan because my doctor does not believe I have had a concussion, I also suffer occasional nausea.

Yes. We have natural opiates in the brain and receptors. My guess is it has to do with the opiate receptors or a lack of neurotransmitters such as dopamine. I think therapeutic doses of methadone could be a very viable treatment for some of us, but there is such stigma against

opiates there is very little research on this subject that I can find. I'm sorry about your doctor. Proving you have been concussed is almost impossible. Exercise is probably increasing your dopamine levels I would guess.

Unless you have a recent brain bleed, it is highly unlikely a CT Scan will show anything. A DTI MRI is more likely to show evidence of an injury.

Opiates make my symptoms better while they are in my system. But they get a bit worse for a few days after. Same with alcohol, kolonopin, xanax. Basically it seems anything that slows down my brain makes it better while on it then worse for a while after

My feelings on this is not to take anything that alleviates the pain. The pain tells me what not to do and if something is doing me harm. I remember the pain and next time avoid doing whatever caused it. For example I put in aftermarket shocks in my vehicle but removed them due to the headaches it caused when going over bumps. If I was taking something to remove the pain, I wouldn't know to remove the shocks which may have been worsening my condition.
