Yes, this system has been difficult to detect considering all the research and all the scans of the past 60 odd years. And this fascinating breakthrough was made by a modest man with - in his words - a simple technique.

It is this sort of advance, with Real World applications that should be richly rewarded.

I have not read the Grain Brain by Dr. Perlmutter, but I often hear him on my NPR radio and PBS TV....talks about so many alz patients have low cholesterol. Our brains need good fats and sadly too many folks are in fear of the cholesterol. So end up on statins or cut out fats... My folks ate fats and traditional foods and lived into 90's...I never heard the word cholesterol back in their days. They were still sharp minded when they left.
