A Small Positive for Pet Owners

Hello,
As co founder of PETitionz.org, set up after the pet food recall began, I receive all Google Alerts on the topic. This morning the alert had this site. I read about the annoying settlement offered to your member by the insurance company.
On our site is a press release entitled American Pet Owners Can Sue in Canada; Better Chance of Justice.
We contacted a lawyer in Ontario Canada who was filing a class action suit against Menu Foods and asked 2 questions.
Was it true that Ontario law, unlike that of most US states, could grant damages for emotional trauma to pet owners?
The answer is yes. Most states treat pets as property and award settlements accordingly.
Secondly, we asked if Americans could join his suit as Menu Foods headquarters is located in Ontario. The answer is yes.
There are no costs to you to join the lawsuit.
There is a link to the Falconer Charney class action lawsuit on our site.
I hope you will visit PETitionz.org and find some comfort in what we are doing. I am owned by 7 cats and bought Wal Mart Special Kitty food for the first time just before the recall. My beloved companions are fine but ---
I hope the information is helpful.

Thank you for your help! I will check out your website. I have been also wondering/debating the difference between settling and going the class action route. I have found that there are a few class action suits already created in my state and I have been trying to determine what I should do. While my father is a lawyer (not of that type though) and a recent part of a class action suit, I have been trying to get advice from him about this too. I guess I will hold onto the settlement papers for now, speack to the vet, and do as much research as possible about this situation. I thought the biggest battle was helping Lucy to survive, but I realize now that that was only the beginning. Thanks again.
