PCS social groups?

A couple of us here in Canberra (Australia) have been talking about starting a PCS social group (as opposed to a 'support group'). Certainly PCS-specific issues could be discussed, with inevitable information-sharing, but the primary purpose would be social -- being able to get together with a group of people to whom you didn't have to explain yourself.

It would be helpful to know if anyone has experience of such a group and, if so, whether it was set up through the MeetUp system or in another way, how it was publicised, and how it has turned out.

Thank you!

Our social group is an offshoot of our support group. Not having to explain ourselves helps. Plus, we don't do activities than push our limits.

Thanks, Mark. Would appreciate any info that you could provide about how the 'social' aspect works, what the mix of participants is, how people find out about it, etc. Thank you :-)

We have a closed group Facebook page. There are a number of them on Facebook. You can easily start your own. Somebody has to volunteer to be the administrator.

We also use an email list to announce activities. This Thursday, we are going to opening day at our local AAA baseball (minor league) park.
We had a pottery painting party last month at a ceramics studio.
