Can Inosine Repair Nerve Damage?
 

This from Byron Richards site. I'm in my first month with Inosine and Sphingolin for the nerve damage I deal with from hip replacement. I may be noticing less burning and tingling:

The two cited papers in the link are both in excellent journals.

There are a few others which suggest that inosine can help in animal models of repair of nerve injury - I can't find any about humans.

I don't know how common inosine deficiency is in humans - people who are deficient in it might benefit from taking it as a supplement but supplements would probably not help people with adequate inosine levels.

I don't know how one knows if there is an inosine deficiency going on.

Just talking to a friend who has been dealing with diabetes as long as I've known her and she takes Metformin and says she has no nerve damage. I thought nerve damage and diabetes were a given.

Metformin is indicated for management of Type 2 (not Type 1) diabetes. It works by blocking glucose production (a process called gluconeogenesis) by the liver.

While Type 2 diabetes is a risk factor for neuropathy, my understanding is that this is not a "given".

Just about finishing up 1st month on Sphingolin and Inosine and I "Think" I'm feeling less and less tingling and burning on my thigh. Going for month 2.

Update: I just finished two months on Sphingolin and will not buy again now. Will continue with Inosine for at least another month and see how it goes...the tingle/burn is pretty much gone. Will it return? Don't know...time will tell. I will continue to do my research on these two nerve supps.

Inosine and Inoitol are of the B8 family and YES many are deficient in the B vitamins...
