Nasal Release Therapy
Has anyone heard of this treatment? It is explained in the following video {apparently I can't include links because I don't have enough posts}
I believe it goes by several different names but the idea is that a balloon is inserted into the different sinus cavities and it is then inflated. This procedure works by realigning the bones of the skull. This procedure was recommended to me by my NUCCA chiropractor. He performed this procedure on one of his patients who had been experiencing symptoms for over 10 years and it provided great relief. I just wanted to see if anybody has heard of it or has any experience with it. Thanks! |
Here is the link to the video (the post gave me the 10 posts required to share links)

First of all I don't deal with brain injuries, etc. but have dealt with sinus/allergies all my life prior to 1995 when I started on OPC's (pycnogenol and then grape seed extract) and headed to my 20th year on these OPC's.... my allergies/sinus issues are history. I have posted in other areas here on OPC's and saw your post so thought I'd mention this OPC.
If on takes pharma blood thinners, then can't take both, one or the other....I've never had s/e with OPC;s, only improved health overall. Too bad OPC's could not save me from hip replacement misery I deal with 5 yrs post op soon. Dealing with horrible nerve damage and shorter leg and and and.... I know about NUCCA chiro work but have never had it |
caroline2,
Nasal release therapy is not generally used for allergy/sinus issues. It is brought up here because for some, their concussion may have caused a structural change in the sinus bones. That is the premise of Nasal Release Therapy as it relates to concussions. The posts on this forum pertain to Post Concussion because most Post Concussion symptoms do not have a cross over to other maladies. Confusing the question posted here with non-concussion experiences is counter to the specific needs of the poster. barnburner, I would be concerned about the experience level of a NUCCA chiro who does NRT infrequently. I don't think there is an 'undo' process if the NRT causes new issues. Finding a specialist who has more knowledge of those bone structures would be important in my view. But, I would not be willing to try it if it is just a 'Try this and see if it helps.' There is too much risk of injury. Absent a stronger reason to do it, I would pass. Plus, it is an expensive 'shot in the dark.' There have been no studies that show any of these techniques to be medically necessary or beneficial. It would be reassuring to see some serious research. From a purely anatomical viewpoint, I struggle to understand how concussions can cause a sinus bone issue except in very limited circumstances. Even when the sinus bones are moved, how can this cause concussion symptoms ? The brain is a very moldable organ. |
