Hello Everyone from a New Member

Hello:

First, I want to thank you for this site: What a Great Site!

A little about me. I love Dogs (Animals). I had almost a perfect life up until my 30's when someone cut us off at 50 PMH. As the passenger, I went forward and jammed my knees/hip against the glove compartment.

10 years later, here I am: with a screwed up spine from the Cervical to my Sacrum! And I'm only 43 but I'm one of the lucky ones that walked away from a bad crash. Here in South Florida, deadly car crashes are a common thing.
Neck Disc Implant at C5-6, 3 failed lumbar surgeries at the L5-S1, r/t knee surgery.
L/T Knee has a torn meniscus, both knees are shot. C4, T4-5 & L4 protruding discs, severe spinal stenosis, neuropathy, arthritis. The Hips are the latest! The nerve pain is unbearable. Just went for the X-Rays to see IF is Arthritis. I think it is the nerve ending from the L4 but what do I know! It could be both.
Pain management since the accident. If you saw me, you'd think I am "Healthy" no one but my family knows the pain I'm in. How getting out of bed to walk my dog Is a Big deal (I love him dearly--he is my sunshine). I wait until my pain meds kick in.

That's my Life Story! I do Nothing but lay around (used to go to the Gym 5 x p.w before the accident). Had a Great Paying Job of 12 years, which I just loved but was Forced to Quit. Hate going out, especially, a restaurant with those hard wood seats: No Thanks! We just order In.....

Now, question: why isn't that I can't edit my own posts? Thanks to all my Meds, I make spelling mistakes or don't make sense & would like to go back & Fix it. Thank you! :grouphug:

Welcome to NeuroTalk...

All new posters are watched for a brief time, and when that is over, the edit function will appear for you.

Once you have an edit button, there is a 24hr limit/window where edits may be done. After that, the button leaves.

Hi and welcome to this informative and supportive group. So sorry to hear of all the misery you live in due to that horrible auto accident. I live with bodywide OA and a messed up hip replacement in 2010, and I'm much older, and I keep working to keep walking. So much of life is not fair, but things happen and so much out of our control....I thank goodness have good memories of my early life. Hope we can help somehow.

PS: I sound so much like a downer at this point in my life, and it's because pain is a downer. I don't want to take tons of pain meds and get loopier etc, so I manage and prioritize my life for my needs. We are all at our places in life.

Hello Oceanlife,
Welcome to the NeuroTalk Support Groups.

I'm sorry to read about your accident and all the health problems you've been dealing with since then.

I see you have made a few posts already so you may know your way around the site but I thought I'd post a couple of links to other forums that may be of help.

Spinal Disorders & Back Pain Forum
Chronic Pain Forum

take care.

Hi Oceanlife,

I like your little dog pic on your Profile Page, quite a cutie.

So sorry you have been through so much after a bad accident. Part of the reason I am here is multiple MVAs causing spinal injuries and related neurological issues. You have come to the right place for support. At the very least we can take some of the pressure off your family should you need a place to vent.

I have to keep this short tonight, eyes are bad, but if you have concerns about mistakes in long Posts do as I do. Type it up at your leisure in Notepad, Word or any WP prog, check for spelling etc, then copy and paste it into a new Post or Thread. Easy and flawless.

Dave.

Hi Oceanlife911

Welcome to NeuroTalk.

I hope that you find the community as knowledgeable and supportive as I have.

As far as you posts are concerned, I always use the "Preview Post" option before clicking on "Submit Reply".

Preview Post lets me reflect on what I want to say and check that any links in my post work.

Also, it gives me a chance to fix up any speeling mistakes :winky:.
