The Prothena alpha synuclein study results were quite interesting. Do lower levels of alpha synuclein equate to less or reversed PD symptoms? The real test for that will be in the next study when they use PD patients. Exciting!

I have a pdf of the Prothena poster for the phase 1a. Tried to attach, and got a message that it exceeds the forum's limit. If anyone is interested I can email it.

This recent study also seems to indicate that reducing alpha synuclein helps PD symptoms. At least in animals. Sure hope it's true in humans!

The Prothena study seems to show that alpha synuclein levels appear to slowly increase again after the PRX002 drug (which immediately drops alpha synuclein 96%) is introduced so a regime of once a month IV may be used to keep the alpha synuclein levels low. Could it be that keeping alpha synuclein levels down will prevent/reverse PD? Sure hope so!
