Turning off DBS

Do you turn your DBS programmer to 0 volts on each side and then press the off button, or just press the off button? What is the difference?

Do you turn it off for dental cleaning and dental x-rays? I have had bilateral DBS and am new to this .

Hi Ronnie,
Just press the off button but there isn't really much that we need to turn ourselves off for anymore.
Dental cleaning involving an ultrasonic scaler is ok now whereas there was a time when we were told to switch off.
I've had ultrasounds and echocardiograms in recent yrs and now it seems we can leave the neurostimulators on.
Electrocardiogram we still need to switch off though since there can be interference from our stims which give a different reading.
If in any doubt about any of the procedures ring Medtronics.
