I am an ex user of paxil ( seroxat in the UK) and i have good reason to believe that Paxil causes long term neurological damage ..

I have joined this forum because i would like to get others opinions about neurological damage from SSRI"s...

I have been on Paxil for several years and consider it a lifesaver. I'm always cautious to avoid blaming one med for anything unless I've eliminated them all to determine which is the culprit. All meds don't work for all people so finding the right one for you is important.

Hi Truthman, welcome.

I was a longtime Paxil user. It was the only SSRI I could tolerate. I could write a short book on the horrors of getting off it...for me, but suffice it to say, it ultimately took me months of liquid Paxil titrating to get off it.

If it caused neurological damage, I do not know. My brain goes every which way normally, so it's hard to tell! :rolleyes: I am now on Cymbalta and could write a bit about that but don't have the time right now. I don't think it's doing the job that Paxil did, but it sure is nice to see the Paxil Pounds finally, slowly coming off.

well, the damage i believe I have from Paxil includes balance problems, CNS nerve damage and possibly others which i dont like to think about..

I am a long time member of paxilprogress ( a paxil withdrawal support site)

there is a thread on there which doncuments the problems people are having years after withdrawal and there are many similarities ...


If you read my blog from Seroxat(Paxil) link 1 to 10 you will see the documented history and fraud of the Paxil scandal, how GSK managed to get it passed by the regulators despite it being a very dangerous and toxic drug...

The reason why posted here is to bring awareness and also I wonder how many people are now on a different SSRI/SSNI after Paxil, this seems to be common , and the drug companies and psychiatrists seem intent on putting people on a psych-drug-merry-go-round , thus the effects and damage is constantly being masked ....

Nice to meet you! I really like the moniker! I've been on and off a few SSRIs, but I make it a point to never stay on one for very long, and then only if my doctor really insists. I'm rather leery about any drug that's made simply to change your mood. But that's a personal issue of mine. I hope you find what you are looking for here, or get across what you are trying to say.

It might help to start a discussion on SSRIs on the depression forum, where more people are likely to have experience with them, and others might pick up some info on these drugs. Good luck and best wishes!
