Does this mean a cavity
I noticed a small hole in a lower front tooth next to my molars. Does this mean I have a cavity? The tooth isn't discolored or dark. My cleaning is scheduled in three weeks.

leesal,
Not all cavities are dark in color. A sudden hole in a tooth can be a de-calcified area where the enamel has worn away... it can be a piece of the tooth chipped/fractured/splintered off.... it could be a space in between the teeth where you may have had a piece of hard calculus and it broke off giving the appearance of a cavity... or perhaps you had a small filling there and it came out. There are a number of things it could be. So ideally the area needs to be clinically evaluated by the dentist at your cleaning appointment. Quote:
