Windows Tablet and Phone
In the past 2 days I have set up a Windows 8.1 Tablet and a Windows Phone, registering 2 new accounts for self and Ex and updating software.
Then I installed AVG on the Tablet and Whatsapp on the phone, followed by teaching my Ex to use it. All this cost me headaches and nausea, but I did it all by myself, with no help. I am learning the basics:) Dave. |

Well done Dave. That's more than the basics. Sorry about the headaches and nausea involved in doing all that though. |

I don't know what AVG and Whatsapp are?! Sorry it caused you headaches. Please remember, on most tablets and phones, you can turn the brightness way down. I keep mine almost all the way low because it is easier on my eyes and I think I don't get headaches as quickly. You can also mess around with contrast and font size to ease the eye strain. I am sure you know all this....just a reminder( or me babbling, more like it). My eye doc scolded me for using my IPAD in bed at night and also said the imperceptible flashing did something to the brain to affect REM sleep. He suggested I stop it at least a couple hours before bed. Guess I have to stop binge watching TV shows on Netflix! My best, D. |
Good job Dave :).
As the others have said, that is way more than the basics. |
Great to hear this Dave - I'm glad my recent trials and tribulations with the computer haven't put you off. I hope the headaches and nausea have reduced now that task is taken care of.

I only bought the Tablet because it came with free Office 365, which my daughter needs, and I use occasionally for correspondance. I can also download it onto my laptop for free, which is what I wanted. (SiL set up laptop last year - personal growth!)
The Tablet cost £20 LESS than a 365 subscription:D It's got a 1.8ghz quad core processor and 32gb storage (plus sd card slot). Not a Brand, but gives them a run for their money and does what I want for a second Tablet. I will still use my Android one primarily. Dave. |
Diandra,
AVG is a very well respected anti-virus programme. Whatsapp is the BEST messaging app for your phone - by far:) I know things;) Dave. |
What I do not know is an anti-virus programme for the phone. AVG and mallwarebytes are not compatible. Anyone have any ideas?
Dave. |
Dave, I have a dumb phone so you are way ahead of me in far as smart phones are concerned.
The info here might help as far as AV software for smart phones are concerned; http://www.tomsguide.com/us/best-ant...ew-2588-7.html . |
[You do not need virus protection. The Windows Phone OS is incredibly secure and the chances of a virus attacking your device is extremely remote. ]
