I'm supposed to go into Barrow's EMU for monitoring!

I'm supposed to go to Barrow's EMU unit for monitoring because I had like 4 simple partial seizures where I was fully aware of what was going on around me. I don't know if you know about Barrow, but it's the best Neurological Institute in Arizona. And they want to do a week long study, possibly a 11 day study. They want to see what is causing my seizures. And they are going to put electrodes on my head to see my brain waves and it's patterns. Has anyone here ever had one and had any luck like did they find anything?

Hi Angelwng,

Welcome to the forum! I have had this testing done a few times so the Dr. could find what area of my brain was triggering my seizures. The test doesn't hurt at all it just gets boring sitting around not being able to do much so be sure to bring a book to read or some puzzle books to keep yourself busy. The electrodes will be able to read 8 different areas of your brain and see what area is triggering your seizures. When I've had this test done in the past my Dr. has cut me back on my meds to trigger a seizure and I told him that diet soda caused me to have seizures so he made me drink the soda and sure enough I had seizures. If you know anything that triggers seizures for you let your Dr. know and you may be able to get out of the hospital sooner than 11 days. What I disliked the most about the test is all the itching on my head from the electrical cream they used to put the electrodes on my head and I couldn't shower until after the test was over. Here's wishing you the best of luck and May God Bless You!

So, I remember the first seizure I had that was on the floor was when I got like no sleep at all. So, should I tell them that little to no sleep can cause me to have a seizure? Cuz, I think that's what triggered my first real seizure. And after like 2 seizures I was able to tell when I was going to have a seizure soon. My 4th seizure I had before it I got this feeling like I was going to have another seizure and I don't remember for sure if I had a smell or taste but I just knew I was going to have a seizure and then I had it once I got to the hospital in their bathroom. And nobody saw it so the doctor told me they can't say that it was a seizure.
