sfn- blanching... bruising?

I attempted to find this topic in other discussions and couldn't. So...
Me...1.5 years, both legs, just labeled small fiber...idiopathic at the moment.

Wondering if anyone else has blanching. meaning red legs....like when your skins cold or hot...I guess it can be called lacy. my entire legz stay this way especially at the end of the day.my neurologist have it a name so I'm guessing it's common.

..also bruising... In odd spaces...like the divit on my knee, bottom of my feet etc.
(When this all started in 2014 I had large bruises inner thigh no clue why)

And varicose? I sware I'm watching my legs change visually.
Ugh.

Lastly...the spreading of the burning? .....to my arms and chest off and on. This home thing as messed my world up. Having a hard time being positive.

Hi there, I have leg skin changes. The red veiny lacy appearance may be livedo reticularis - something to do with contraction of vessels, particularly in the cold. I'm guessingsfn can affect this change. This is often there on my legs. I also have deathly white leg skin now as opposed to the lovely yellowy glow I used to have. Also turn red at the bottom of legs, very blotchy and dry. I'm watching skin changes and understand how distressing this is.

Welcome Bangels,

Seems like quite a few new members lately, sorry to hear of your condition.

I can relate to the varicose vein thing. Mine really took off around the same time I developed the SFN symptoms. One neurologist thinks the circulatory issues could be causing some of the problem. I'm not so sure, but I am scheduled to have surgical procedures this fall to resolve them to the extent possible. I do notice things seem to feel somewhat better when I wear compression stockings. Although, as a man I do have to swallow my pride every time I pull them on

Unfortunately the future is uncertain with this disease. You do need to keep a positive outlook and search this forum for the various things that can help (diet, exercise, supplements, stress reduction). Most people seem to find some things that help them manage the disease, and continue to have a productive life.

Hi Bangels and welcome to NT

I have PN but not the rash/vein issues you have - the burning I can relate to.
I remembered another thread recently that talked about livedo reticularis so did a quick search - here's the link:

http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/sh...do+reticularis

Use the search function to find previous posts about a topic (search query needs to be at least 4 characters long)

There's lots of people on here with different types of neuropathy from different causes. I hope you find some answers to your questions. If you feel like it's getting you down feel free to ask for support - there's usually someone around willing to listen and share. All the best.

I have noticed crazy skin changes also. I started getting the livedo on my thighs in June when I go in the sun. The doctors can't find the cause so its just another idiopathic diagnosis.
Over the past year my legs have changed before my eyes. My skin has become transparent and I have developed varicose veins.

I didnt have the red legs but if you have burning and tender skin(mine was on top of my feet) I used Mortons Epsom Salt Lotion. This helped me to get to sleep at night for a time. Then that symptom changed and a new one climbed the hill to be the new symptom on top. Good Luck, Ken in Texas.

I'm so sorry that you have to face this alone, life can be so unfair sometimes.

Just remember that because things are currently getting worse for you, it doesn't mean that it will continue in that direction. If you read the stories here, you'll find that many people have a period of rapid onset followed by stabilization at some point. From there it may get better, slowly get worse, or just stay the same.

It really is important to keep a positive outlook because stress and worry definitely will make things worse.

And feel free to come here and ask questions, express your fears, or just vent your anger.
