Tgif Weekend Check In - Wake Up

TGIF - Happy Weekend to all. I got a lot of house work and laundry done yesterday, so I am happy about that.

Just talked to Dirk, he is New Mexico leaving the motel shortly, it's 7am there, 6 am here. He will be here by noon my time. We actually talked at 5am my time, and 6am where he is.

My tummy is doing flips! It's going to be 109 degree's today. We have had a very early summer, gosh I was at the pool in Feb a few days, and the temps seem hotter sooner than last year.

My mom seems much better now. Let's hope it lasts.

Check in.....I'll be busy this weekend, that's for sure. LOL Although I am sure he will get tired early today, after being on the road for 3 days. He really pushed it as far as time from MI to AZ.

Hugs to all, Nikko:grouphug: :D

Glad he's making good time Nikko, let us know how things go okay? I am busy with Jackie and my writing, been working on my first novel since I heard about that grant I applied for, it was given to an already published writer, so you can guess I was a bit disappointed by it, I thought it was supposed to go to NEW women writers that actually needed help getting their careers off the ground. Oh well, won't waste my time on them again. It definitely was NOT worth the $35 application fee.

Anyway I am hard at work on my novel and hope to get it ready before Jackie goes back to school in August and maybe even have it sold by Thanksgiving if I am lucky and find a decent agent willing to take on the project. So that is where I am at. We're supposed to do the pool today but I don't know for sure that we will be, it might rain here again. Oh well, nothing to do but wait and see.

Glad your mother is doing better, maybe she's forgotten what she said the other day. One can only hope. ;)

Off to the track again this weekend. Hopefully nothing breaks this time!

Update:
Well I spoke too soon....third is gone on the transmission so no racing.:(
More money into the pit. Just when we think we are getting out of a jam something like this happens.

Hi Nikko, Pam, and Wendy.

Nikko, check in when you can and have fun.

Pam, that's ashame you didn't get the grant. Hopefully you'll get it published soon.

Wendy, sorry to about the transmission. How are you doing with the new meds?

I gone out to eat at 6 this morning but been home alone all day every since. I did take care of some business by phone today. I cut my phone bill down by $10 by not having unlimited long distance anymore. I also plan to now get rid of one of my ISPs now that the cheaper one seems to be clear of all software bugs.

Hello,

Started a new diet about 4 weeks ago. Lost about 10 pounds.
Then hubby brought home tons of ice cream because "it was on sale!"

Work.
See accupunturist.
Visit friend of a friend in nursing home/rehab almost an hour a way. She is tremendously depressed.

Think about exercise.

Practicing Zen about parents visiting -- I keep telling myself that I can handle this.

Hot here. Rainy.

Thanks BF & Di for the kind words, I was pretty down about it because I think I should have been at least a finalist. But I guess they probably didn't even read my essays or application. I'm trying to get over it. I did cry Weds. when I learned that they chose this other published writer who also teaches. :( But I just threw myself back into editing. Now that the last revision is done I am going back over it one last time to get rid of any passive voice I used that this nice gentleman has helped me with.

His name is Jim and he's a writer too, we met on this writer's board and he's a wonderful writer, his story that he shared with me was so good I couldn't put it down and I have learned a lot from the revisions he suggested on my story, so it's all good. :) I expect this last edit to last a couple of weeks since I have my son home for part of summer break (meaning the next two weeks he has off then he goes back for two more weeks and then is off again until mid August) so I can only get done what I can get done. ;)

It sounds like you have a lot going on Di, you're really nice to cover for that girl going to a concert. It also sounds like you're doing some good things BF, cutting down on the long distance is good if you never really use it. ;) And Mari, good luck with the Zen, I hope it helps to get you through these next couple weeks until the parentla visit is over. :)
