Top 3 Music Videos

Ok, there are a few to choose from, but be strict with yourself - 3 videos only.

Here are mine, based on visuals and song.

1. Sledgehammer - Peter Gabriel

https://youtu.be/hqyc37aOqT0

2. Thriller - Michael Jackson.

3. Everybody Hurts - R.E.M.

4. Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen.

I know you lot are gonna cheat, so I've started in the same vein.

Dave.

ummmm. 3? ;)

3 is a difficult number, or 4 in your case ;)

I loved the Coldplay video they made in Sydney last year. Lots of happy people that day.
They were just walking around having so much fun. I liked a lot of their vids.

Coldplay - A Sky Full Of Stars

Get Back [live on the roof] - The Beatles

Subterranean Homesick Blues - Dylan

I really like a lot of different types spanning decades so it's too difficult a question for me to answer really but I tried.

Jamiriquai made good videos. There was a video with Christopher Walken dancing in it that I liked too. Fat Boy Slim.

Owner of a Lonely Heart- Yes

and

Don't Come Around Here No More - Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers (I believe)

off the top of my head. Sober by Tool is very good, too.

I thought Tool was good. My wife and a friend convinced me to see them live. I am now willing to drive a day, well I was before car travel was difficult, to see them.

Can't beat a bit of Beatles, and Yes are definitely in my top 10 Groups. Enjoyed reviewing all those Tracks again, it's been too long.

Dave.

This is very difficult for me to distill down to 3.

While I do like Thriller alot...by Michael Jackson... I don't like Michael Jackson basically overall.

Here are my 3...

1)I Want to Know What Love Is...by Foreigner
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=raNGeq3_DtM

2)Radioactive....Lindsey Stirling and Pentatonix
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aE2GCa-_nyU
Lindsey Stirling designs her own videos, writes most of her own music, sews her own costumes and makes many of her sets..produces the videos as well. She is an example of the new celebrities created solely on YouTube.
example:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvipPYFebWc
She is alot of fun to watch.;)
Lindsey was trashed by Piers Morgan judge America's got talent, and now she does things like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QAD0BtEv6-Q
She is one of the most watched YouTubers...and very successful on many international tours.

I really like Maire Brennan (formerly from Clannad)
This is one of my faves:
3)Perfect Time.... Maire Brennan
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AfGhWGj0WzU

More Maire Brennan (this time with Clannad)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5bTYSjYg_0

Maire Brennan's music is often very organic... this one
is one of my faves with nature and very beautiful:
Change My World...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDkV5N-SopQ

Anyone reading this thread who wants to know more about Maire there is an interesting interview with her here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gSQHTIwkAI

Clannad hit the international scene in US with a commercial based on music from Harry's Game (movie) for a car...then moved on into a well known musical heritage of their own. Maire is Enya's older sister, for those who didn't know that.;)

EnglishDave 07-30-2015 05:01 PM

I did not know Enya was part of the Clannad family and used to perform with them before going solo. Have always enjoyed the music, it calls to my Irish Roots.

As for the opinion of Piers Morgan, I am far too polite to pass judgement on him. Let's just say his standing in this Country lies somewhere South of a Rattlesnake's belly. Never understood why he was appointed to AGT.

Talking of AGT, just started showing the Auditions of Season 10 over here. One thing you do differently is you show fewer of the true Whack-jobs and Looneys we get to watch on BGT. Perhaps your Auditions are filled with amazingly talented folk?

Dave.

Since Dave can do four

I have been feeling this R.E.M. tune a lot lately

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=k_JnCWT-_O8

"I'm pushing an elephant up the stairs
I'm tossing up punch lines that were never there
Over my shoulder a piano falls
Crashing to the ground

I'm breaking through
I'm bending spoons
I'm keeping flowers in full bloom
I'm looking for answers from the great beyond"

Oh. Yeah.

Jon.

a first crush of sorts

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=VdQY7BusJNU

The somg ages well to me. I've always adored Cyndi. I'm sure over time as I've tilted the song like a prism the meaning and scope have change, narrowed or broadened, and so on, but there is beauty and pain, as most art delivers.

EnglishDave 08-01-2015 04:33 PM

Jon,

If you talk about crushes who also produce powerful music and lyrics, for me it was always Chrissy Hynde of The Pretenders:

So much emotion, such longevity.

Dave.
