Sound Sensitivity Improving!

I wanted to inform the forum that my horrid sound sensitivity seems to be improved. I no longer have to wear earplugs at all times during the day. In fact I have been able to do dishes, make food, and even go for walks without any earplugs! I also have been able to listen to podcasts for long periods of time on my phone speakers.

I still wear the earplugs when I go into louder public places and when there are louder noises such as lawnmowers and construction, but I'm no longer cringing at the sounds of loud conversations and laughter. I am pretty sure this trend is due to actual healing and also my increasing ability to control my anxiety. I highly recommend facing the fears you may have. What can you truly lose if it is done cautiously? I realized that the noises weren't actually hurting me in a lot of cases but causing a lot of anxiety instead. This is a key step in the right direction!

That's great news! This gives me a lot of hope. Out of curiosity, are you able to go out in normal traffic and tolerate those car and truck horns? Has it improved?

Danny,

Congrats! Good to hear you are mending.

Galaxy,

I haven't been outside in heavy traffic without earplugs as I'm still trying to be cautious. I am not sure how loud horns would affect me at this point. The sound of single cars passing is not an issue anymore, though.

Nice to "hear" DT... grats!

Awesome! (apparently one word responses are too short to be posted, so I'm arbitrarily lengthening my post!)

I'm loving the positivity in this thread. We need more of this on this forum! We are all alive and this condition is far from a death sentence. A disciplined and informed approach will give us our lives back.

Listening to music on headphones at normal levels as I'm writing this post. Wow I missed the rhythm and blues. Now to make sure I don't push it too far...

Great to hear buddy, keep on truckin'!

That's wonderful to hear! Congrats! It gives hope for the rest of us...
