Myestin Graves

Bobbi,
Thank you for the information provided on this subject. I still have a question which I could not find a place on the website to ask, so I am going to ask you. My husband has this disease & he has a terrible cough all the time with thick clear mucus. Is a cough of this kind associated with Myestin Graves?

Thank you,
Kay Hays

Hi there and welcome

Bobbi only visits occasionally so hopefully someone else can answer your question.
I moved your post to it's own thread as others are more likely to see it here.

Hi, Kay. A cough like you describe is not on any list of myasthenia gravis symptoms I have ever seen. Myasthenia gravis causes weak muscles.

The cough in and of itself is not an MG symptom. However, if your husband experiences dysphagia, or difficulty swallowing, the cough could indeed be indicative of some problems with MG. If he is aspirating saliva or fluids, he very well could be coughing it up, mixed with the mucus you describe.

If this is what you feel might be happening, I would urge you to call your doctor. Aspiration can become a serious complication.
