Favorite Relaxation activities/methods
I am getting very anxious for my surgery on Friday and am looking for ideas on relaxation activities. Good news is I am working today and tomorrow but the evenings and first thing in the morning are tough and sleeping has been an issue as well. Thanks for any tips.

Hi GoBlue,
Maybe get a movie the night before. Something comic or light that doesn't require concentration. Watch the sunset. Have a friend visit. Being with others is helpful even if you are distracted as they will draw your attention away from Friday. Light exercise is good. The day I had my nerve repair my surgery was scheduled for noon. Aack! I still had to be NPO from midnight on and was just buggy. Of all things I decided to go for a nice swim in the morning and felt much more peaceful afterwards. Hang in there. You'll be waking up from your procedure before you know it. I'm sending hugs and healing vibes and will keep you in my prayers Friday. |
hi goblue. i have found that warm epsom salt baths and a good comedy and sleepy time tea help calm my nerves prior to surgeries i have had. but don't have any tea or food if the drs told you to fast prior to surgery of course. but the bath and comedies distract me. sitting outside and watching the sunset like littlepaw suggested have also helped me too. i am sure you will be fine and that you're surgery will be a success. i will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. soft soft hugs coming your way.

Thank both for the recommendations...my daughter will be staying a friends so will have some down time which will be nice.
I received a nice call from the PM doc office today since I had cancelled the appt wanting to check in and ensure everything was well and all my questions were answers. I definitely have a good team between my surgeon and the new PM so nice to have doctors that spend that extra time to reassure you, seems hard to find these days. Lucky for me the surgery is in the am so a little less time to worry. I appreciate all of your advice and words of encouragement..I will send an update when I am able over the weekend, with wonderful news...:grouphug: |
