colectomy surgery soon and petrified
i am petrified.
i am scheduled to have a colectomy mid-October. i had a VERY BAD reaction to anesthesia last summer, and that was anesthesia-lite...the kind you would use for a colonoscopy which most people can tolerate quite well... this is full blown, general anesthesia... as if that is not enough, this major surgery is excruciating with a long recovery for healthy people. my head has not stopped hurting in 2+ years since i was hurt, and the anesthesia given to me made me worse overall and i am not even close to feeling the same since. i have no choice. i have been hospitalized twice with severe complicated diverticulitis and i am lucky to have avoided emergency surgery...at least i get two months to worry about it... has anyone else had a major surgery after mild traumatic brain injury with serious migraine problems? i cannot imagine what my dysfunctional brain will be like when this is done. 2 neuropsych tests shows >1% percentile in cognitive processing speed and in memory deficits... i have bilateral occiputal neuralgia and worsening trigeminal nerve pain...nerve ablations have helped recently, but they wear off eventually... my eyes hurt when i move them and each day i wake up with a headache that only gets worse... on top of that, i may need yet another surgery to decompress nerves or for a rhyzotomy or four... there is even more to it all than just this...what a mess... how am i going to make it through this? oh God, help me please. |
