Striated Muscle AB
Hi All,
I just recently spent a week at Mayo trying to figure out some mystery health issues. After numerous blood tests and evaluations I tested positive 1:480 for Striated Muscle ABs. The neurologist who ordered the test was unavailable to explain further and my internist was uncomfortable interpreting the test himself. Every other test was negative. So I guess my question is can you have MG with positive tests for only the Striated Abs? |
Hi, chiab. Do you mind saying what other tests they ordered?
That test is not specific to MG, but can show up in MG patients. http://www.mayomedicallaboratories.c...erpretive/8746 Do the doctors suspect MG? You can have more than one thing going on at once, too. Many of us have. So if a doctor isn't being thorough, they might miss something. Do you have ptosis? Muscle weakness? Anything you could add might help us to help you! Thanks. Annie |
The achr antibodies are negative I guess is what I was getting at. I did have an EMG outside of mayo which showed some "nerve damage" but that Dr was less than helpful. I'm getting that EMG over to Mayo so they can take a look.
As far as at what the Mayo neuro thinks I'm not sure as he's yet to get back to me. My muscle strength is pretty good except in my face. Speech and smile are affected. So some things match up while other symptoms (tremor) do not. |
