Foods and Arthritis

I have not eliminated my 2 cups of coffee, like my meats, don't eat tomatoes much, eat some cheese. Guess I'm not ready to be pain free.

All the years dealing with OA, I never tried Feverfew. It's mentioned in the above link and then I find more info here. Reading more, many make claim to getting rid of migraines on Feverfew.

On the foods, sounds like Plant Based foods are best to keep OA pain and inflammation under control.

Do Your Research, I know you all do.

Hi Caroline,

Quite a list, isn't it! :)

Many people find relief by adhering to a very strict diet.

I have done all kinds of dietary measures, for many years. I have not found my perfect anti-inflammatory diet yet. Still working on it!

Thanks for the article!

Hi Caroline,

I know several people with frequent migraines. Some swear by feverfew. It seems to work for some people.
I have never had feverfew work for my migraines.

(Maybe it depends upon the type of migraine? I really don't know.)

Sometime this past week, Dr. Oz was mentioning ginger for migraine -- raw ginger, ginger tea (raw ginger steeped in hot water) or ginger candy. He said he was shocked by the rapid changes in the brain after ginger consumption.
It won't harm me to try it. :)

I hope you have a restful night!

Hi DejaVu and back at you for a restful night. Ideally, as I've read many times that getting to sleep at 10-10:30 PM gives us our best HGH sleep. I try to do that some nights.

I may look at feverfew for OA, I don't have the migraine issue...thank goodness.

I just got a new bottle of a chinese oil for joints and will give it a good try. Mostly for my knee. take care.

I read somewhere that citrus is a big trigger for joint pain.

I have found that it was a culprit for me. So no more OJ for me.

Hi mrsD and Caroline,

I have found citrus bother me, as well -- exacerbated eczema, psoriasis and joint pain.

Dairy hits me right away -- congestion, headaches, exacerbated eczema and psoriasis and...joint pain.

It's fascinating to see many people taking a dietary approach to Psoriatic Arthritis at the NPF site. Many report finding and eliminating offending foods very helpful, in addition to using some form of medication. :)

I feel more hopeful when I discover there are some measures I can take to help myself, even if/when I need to take medications, as well. It's so important to evaluate all factors and to use multiple approaches.
I enjoy the many insights offered here at NeuroTalk. :)

Dairy is mucous forming and it's one of the major groups of allergins along with grains.

A side note, I used a new chinese oil on my knee and lower back last night and I slept 6 hrs straight instead of 4 hrs and then a wake up. Going to the bathroom at 5:30AM, I walked better....so I'm thinking Po Sum On oil is a keeper...used on my knee and lower back in another topical I use. It's on amazon where I bought it.

Foods we've been consuming for DECADES has been causing all this havoc, so much I believe for sure. All the acid foods....

Alkaline Acidic Food Charts

I've looked at these for a few years and thought I'd post one that is pretty clear.

Brocolli is one of the best for us to eat bowls of.

Could Gluten Be Triggering Arthritis

Could Gluten Be Triggering Your Arthritis? - Healthline

Just hearing on NPR this morning of the gluten issue epidemic in Italy. I was born and raised on Italian foods = gluten and living with a body full of OA. Just seems like a connectionn to me.
