sock problems and more

Hi. I'm guessing other people have problems wearing socks? Some of the most severe pain I have is in my hands and the soles of my feet. I haven't been able to wear socks since I became ill. Sometimes I cut the soles out and occasionally put firm shoe innersoles inside the socks. The texture of even very fine socks feels like walking on razor blades. I wondered if anyone has any ideas or suggestions?

The other question I had was about sleeping in the day. I usually have one nap and at least 50% of the time when I wake I have severe nerve pain over most of my body. This usually lasts till bedtime but sometimes eases in the late evening. I have to sleep because I'm exhausted but don't know what to do about this. Does anyone else have this?? Or is it just me?

I feel/felt your pain

The ones I had the best luck with were Worlds Softest Socks.

YES! I didn't realize how many socks out there! I've paid $$$ and $ for socks that just sit in my drawer. From tube, toe, crew, spa and slipper socks, to name just a few. So to answer your questions yes and no.:grouphug:

This type are the only socks I can stand. You can goggle chenille socks or fluffy socks. They are very soft and generally very loose. I only picked this example from Amazon because the picture was best(these come with lotion in them, I just get plain one).....just wanted you to see what they look like. They are very loose on the foot, ankle and leg so work great for me.

I try not to nap but do rest. My neuropathy is mostly contained with Lyrica, Norco(hydrocodone) and interestingly, a blood pressure med called Clonidine seems to soften the neuropathy.

I had found this out by accident. Every once In awhile I take a drug holiday just to see where my baseline pain is. To help with withdrawals my doc gave me clonidine and it really helped with the awful "heeby jeeby"' buzzing feeling that comes with withdrawal. But, it also helped with dampening the neuropathy and basically just made me feel calmer. Since I have mildly high blood pressure issue, my pain doc and primary care doc agreed I could stay on Clonidine. It seems to have several off-label uses, and it is very inexpensive because it is an old medication.

My best, D

p.s. In the winter, around the house I don't often wear sock, where a soft, fleece lined boot type slipper or moccasin without sock. Just an example.....

I'm glad I'm not the only one! I've got so many socks but very few I can walk in. Winter here so really need them. I'm often reduced to wearing socks with no soles and sandals. They're my former hiking sandals and the only thing I find comfortable- its a bit of a fashion crime!

Yaktrax Socks

These Yaktrax socks are the softest socks I have ever felt, so far.

They are much less expensive at the current BOGO price.
You can see the designs here: http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/fa...oryId=24528416

You might find them on another site at a different price.
