new pantry

My youngest and her husband are coming over this weekend to start redoing my little itty bitty pantry. I'm putting sliders on the shelves so I don't have to try to step into the pantry. I'm going to refigure the shelves to get more space and put the little organizers that hold brooms etc. Oh, what's the name of that material that is clear, heavy, washable. I can never remember. My son in law is the only one that can remember the name. I'm putting that on the back wall and around where I put the trash can. Sometimes my aim isn't to great when I throw things in the trash can. So all I have to do is wipe this clean. Then we need to repair the pocket door. That we don't know how to do. And it all gets a fresh coat of paint that will be a nice contrast to what goes in the kitchen. I still have avocado counter tops and range! It has been a long time since my kitchen has had any updates.

Thank you, thank you!!!! Plexiglass, that's the name. Hopefully it will help my pantry look cleaner. Can you cut it with a regular saw or do you need something special? I assume you can just clean that with a product like Windex. I'm using the melamine shelving for the shelves. I don't know whether to paint those or not. You know Lowes makes up those cans for you to do test painting. So I have this little can of Avacado paint that I got for .50 cents. But I've got about five shelves.

Got it started today!!!!!!!! My son in law sanded, primed and painted today and tomorrow they will put brand new shelves in. Our house was new when we bought it 27 years ago and the wall were new house cream and still are, or should I say were. The shelves were white metal and now I have pristeen white wooden shelves. The pantry is now a light green, a little darker than sage and my kitchen will be a soft yellow. It will be so nice to buy new curtains for my door out to the deck. I don't have the money to buy a new sink but I am going to get new fixtures.

I am still in the dark ages and have an avacado sink and stove. I would have still had the avacado dishwasher and refrig but they wore out. But I think my whole kitchen is covered in drywall dust. It will be interesting to get all that off the floor and walls. And I got some primer paint on my best jeans. Well I guess I shouldn't have been wearing them.

Yep, doyd, plexiglass can be cut with just about any saw. It does crack though, so I'd recommend having it cut to size at the store. Home Depot and Menaard's have standard cut sizes available. When using a power saw, be mindful of the melting factor and try to cut fairly quickly. I've even used a jigsaw on it with decent success.

The only thing is, that it scratches very easily, so beware of what you use to clean it, you may find yourself with a streaky, cloudy look in no time.

How exciting for you, a new kitchen is such a joy!
