I'm going to try fasting to recover from brain injury
I have read a lot into fasting to promote healing and it seems too be promising. I have suffered from multiple concussions and just can not bear to live with the side effects any longer.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
I thought fasting was only thought to be helpful during the first 24 hours following the injury. www.rgs.uky.edu/odyssey/summer08/fasting.html |
Have you looked into intermittent fasting and ketogenic diets? Those are popular now and work together well.

willfernandez,
Welcome to NeuroTalk. Fasting to a point of ketosis is very controversial and has risks. The brain needs good nutrition to function and heal. An elimination diet/fast has value if you do it properly to find allergens and other toxic issues. It is a fast from common allergens while replacing them with low allergy foods. I did this under a doctor's direction over 30 years ago. The same doctor started me on the vitamins and supplements regimen in the Vitamins sticky at the top. Another diet that is better than fasting would be a low inflammatory diet. It is not a proven way to heal but has valid points and does not create any risks. will, please feel free to introduce yourself and tell use about your symptoms and struggles and what you have been doing to recover. There is a lot of good help here. |
Hello everybody and thanks for your advice. ** a I am 20 years old. I live in ** Idaho. I have had about 5 concussions over the past 4 years. 2 falling down skiing and snowboarding without a helmet when I was 16 and 17 and 3 run of the mills accidental ones since then. Mark if you live in the treasure valley maybe we could meet up and talk in person. I have seen you post a lot and you seem to know what talking about. I am very confused in life and don't know what to do. I just want to heal and don't quite know how.
