TN Linked to Hashimotos?
 

Hi all! I was very recently diagnoses with TN. My neurologist told me until my meds kick in i can use ice to help ease my episodes. Though it burns the crap out of my skin it seems to work. Until today. It was not working for anything, it was actually making it worse. I continued to move the bag of ice around desperate to find the right spot and make it stop and noticed it needed to be on my cheek on an angle down across my neck under my ear area as well.
Now I also have enlarged thyroid and often have cysts on my thyroids. I havent been diagnosed with Hashimotos but have a lot of risk factors and the majority of the symptoms. Where the bag was extending to was my thyroid. I do know my thyroid SHOULDN'T be that high be well its so large that it is. I noticed during the episode my thyroid was more pronounced than usual and harder than usual. Ive been doing some research and have found very little about a correlation between TN and Hashimotos or other thyroid issues. Ive seen on some thyroid sites some people with both noticed their TN pain disappear with no TN treatment when their Hashimotos is under control.
This really makes me wonder. Partially because I'm a nut job who wont let go of the possibility of me having hypothyroid no matter what the blood tests say lol but mainly out of pure curiosity and geniunely finding it interesting. So these "polls" have been done on the thyroid sites but not the Neuro sites according to me google searches. How about one here? Anyone suffering from both TN and thyroid issues? And if so have you noticed any changes in either that coordinated with treatment, lack of treatment or "flares" of the other?
