Having MVD surgery next wk and scared
Hi everyone. I have just registered and this is my first post. I am looking for anyone who has this awful awful disease and any tips to try. I have been from one Dr to another and I feel I have been bounced around enough. I do have MVD surgery next wk and I really am scared of this one. I have had a few surgeries and it is not the surgery itself. It is more the fear that it won't work or will make it much worse. I was not impressed with this neurosurgeon at all. His bedside manner sucked. I spent a couple minutes w him and he dashed ou the door. I feel I have no other choice and my drs will not gv me anything for pain or to help me sleep. And really have only tried 2 meds. The side affects are too much for me. I know you all will say try to find another surgeon. But he is the only one who does this type of surgery around here where I live. I feel I have no other choice. Can you tell me your experiences and how your MVD surgery turned out. Any ideas will help. Thank you

Well sometimes the ones with the worst bedside manner can be the best at the surgery...so I hope that is the case for you.
Did you check his reviews online - if most only complain about his social skills and not his surgical skills then he may be Ok as a surgeon.. Is there any other city you could go to for surgery? Perhaps where relatives or friends live? |

Hello Moose,
Was wondering how your MVD surgery went. I had an MVD done 4.5 years ago and it's the best thing I ever did. You are probably still trying to recover from surgery but let us know what your experience was . Most importantly, is your TN pain gone? Surgery completely rid me of that terrible pain. Ken |
Hi Moose,
Have you had your surgery? If so, I hope it went well for you. I had MVD surgery 1 year ago. For me, the worst part of my recovery was the steroids the doctor put me on to prevent brain swelling. They kinda made me crazy. My surgical wound got infected and I had to go back to the hospital for a couple of nights, but IV antibiotics cleared it up. Let me know how you're doing. The odds are in your favor that the surgery will relieve your pain. Please let me know if I can help or answer any questions. I'll be thinking about you. Cheryl And Zatochi--I'm so glad to hear that your surgery made your pain go away. |
