Supplements for anxiety?
Plan on asking my doctor about this but what is generally allowed? Going through barely any PCS right now just a very slight bruise on my head where the injury occured. No other symptoms, only slight sensitivity if I try to lay my head down on that part of my head. Xanax, picamilon, 5 htp, tryptophan, phenibut...?

Pain at the impact site is not PCS. CBT to help you straighten out your OCD thought processes should be considered. Drugs or supplements without addressing the root issue is questionable.

Thanks a lot. Whole time I thought it was PCS. Either way its been less than 3 months since my initial injury, and I agree CBT would be the best but very pricey. I wouldnt mind taking some healthy supplements (nothing that needs a prescription) to help calm my anxiety and help with productivity. I've heard good things about picamilon.

I'd start with the basic vitamin regimen in the Vitamins sticky up top. After a month of consistent use, you could try adding L-Tryp or a small dose of 5-HTP. The other stuff is foreign to me. I have never seen anybody post about using it. Benzos like Xanax should be avoided if possible.
But, supplements or even Xanax will have minimal effect unless you can get some control of irrational thoughts. |
Yeah, finding a way to recognise that you're having irrational/negative thoughts is a must. Once you recognise, you can work on strategies to control these and redirect your thoughts onto something more positive. This helps stop this sometimes vicious negative thought cycle we can get in.

Picamilon is extremely short acting (30 minute half life). You would need to take it 10 times a day to get a sustained benefit.

Great thanks. Also considering theanine and taurine. Do I need to ask my doctor about taking these random supplements or should I just go ahead?
