This storm has some serious pressure power!

Just don't know what to do with myself.
Nerve pain is gruesome.
Ouch everywhere.
Hurt.
I even reached for the narcotics and they aren't helping.
Wow. That is all I can say.
:(

Indeed. Flaring up for me as well. It's the burning thats kicking again - that I normally can keep at bay. I kind of expected it. just gotta ride the storm unfortunately.

:( sorry you are in pain. Have you tried a warm epsom salt bath? Maybe the heat and magnesium will help make you sleep, then hopefully wake up to a better day tomorrow :)

This week has been rough, but I found today hard too. I hope it gets better for you!

I'm having a bad flare as well. I was blaming the new job, but maybe I was completely off base.

Stinking nor'easter.

Whatever has been going on in Georgia the last 2 weeks is about to do me in. Overcast, misting, raining at times, warm, cool and now cold ! And my pain meds don't seem to be covering this either.

I've always used cold therapy to help my SFN....my husband always told me to try a heating pad as it helped him. I'm naturally hot natured and anything hot, even coffee, would cause me to sweat. Since it was cold yesterday and I was hurting so much in my arms I used it and it helped.....shocked I was ! :)

I'm sure Bubba was smiling down from Heaven saying "see...I told you so".

Seems like many, many people find that the weather and pressure changes in particular cause them to flare.

Any theories on why this occurs? (Maybe if we know the mechanism behind it, we can figure out a way to alleviate it to some extent)

My personal theory is that the barometric changes in the fall/stormy weather , coupled with all the pollen, mold from trees/plants causing a double whammy.....actual pressure on our body(especially joints) and inflammation from body fighting off pollen. I seem to flare every fall.

I also flare badly when I fly, definitely barometric pressure issues there.

Like the rest of the gang, my current pain meds are barely touching the pain.

Somewhere on the net, there is a video of marshmallows under a vacuum glass dome bell. Some air is sucked out, lowering the pressure in the bell, and the marshmallows all swell up.

This was done as a possible explanation as to tissues in the body slightly swelling in a similar way which then causes pressure on nerves and other structures to explain headache and pain.

I remember the marshmallows in the vacuum chamber experiment from high school physics class. Just one more thing that causes us pain and we can't control it
