Totally O/T, but I gotta let it out...
I can no longer live without a TV! Our 16-year-old RCA finally quit sometime in March, and we've been without since then. While I'm delighted to see the girls reading more, it's becoming a bit of a hardship on me....especially since, in the interim, new seasons of Grey's Anatomy, & House MD have premiered, and the new season of Lost premiers on Wednesday. Plus -- honestly? -- it would make my study time a little less complicated if I could tell my darlings "go watch (fill in age-appropriate show title here) for a bit while I read about sedminentary facies and coprolites."
Ah. I feel a little better having gotten that out in the open. Next? |
I haven't had to go without, but I can sure sympathize on some levels, as we have only one, and there's always competition for it. If I don't mark my shows on the guide while hubby's at work, he'll watch some mindless crap like "Whose Line..." and other stupid stuff, sometimes for hours. UGH...

Awwww, (((((((MarghanMom))))))).
I can sympathize as I went without one for nearly a year because the rabbit ears didn't work well and couldn't afford cable. The complex I was living in was suppose to furnish the cable, but, weren't paying the bill or something and I couldn't get it. Then they started paying the bill and neglected to tell the tenants, so, I had no idea to hook up to it again and went several months not knowing. Oh well, what do you do, lol. Wal-Mart has some rather small affordable ones if you can manage to hold you over until you can get a bigger one. Also, some computers will play DVDs, do you know if yours does? That could buy you some time. |
I am TV dependent too...
Just some info you can go to ABC.com and watch grey's... I think you can do the same for some other stations too.

point / counterpoint
Not to be in the oposition, but, I would gladly give up my TV. I like to read, but find it difficult to absorb text when the television is competing for my attention. Although I am reading, I am unable to tune out the TV audio. As a result, I end up getting up in the wee hours of the morning, so I can have some quiet time to read or do anything else that commands concentration. There are some programs I enjoy, but there is an awful lot of - to quote Lizard - "mindless crap" out there. If you can struggle the TV away from my wife, you can have it. You may ask, "why don't you just leave the room?". Because even though we are doing different things, being together is just too important to us. Next.
