B12 is used to treat neuropathy, caused b12 deficiency, if your PN is caused by drugs, only time may tell. depends on how often, and how much coccaine you have taken to cause neuropathy, im not familiar with drug-indunced. Have you spoken to a physician yet?

Do you know what your number is? My reading was 119 with 400 being the low end of acceptable. I took one shot per month 100 units liquid plus one Methylated B-12 pill per day. it took about 4 or 5 monthe to get my number over 900. If you ate poorly while addicted there may be other nutritional considerations. I believe that the b-12 is water soluble and so not much danger of getting poisoned. However I believe that it is a slow process that takes patience to get your blood into the right condition for healing the nerves. If you lurk and read you know that taking care of yourself is paramount. Good Luck, Ken in Texas. P.S. If your b-12 is low enough your Dr. can RX the liquid shots.

Cocaine use shows up in some medical sites, as a toxin to nerves.
But this is not clearly explained.

So figuring out what to do, is difficult to try and reverse this.
Avoiding stimulants is a first step.

Try and improve your circulation and see if that helps. Using a quality (not oxide form) magnesium supplement and soaking in epsom salt baths, may help improve blood flow.
There is a lotion too--- Morton Epsom lotion, that may help when rubbed on the tops of the feet and lower legs and ankles.
This will improve the blood flow to the feet.

If the myelin insulation of the axons of the nerves is damaged, B12 (methylcobalamin) is only one factor in helping to repair this. You need a good B-complex, like B-Right, a good magnesium and Fishoil/krill oil to help with this process. If you use statins for cholesterol, you'll have to think about stopping those, as they block remyelination.

If your PN is really from cerebral toxicity to the cocaine, and you had mini hemorrhagic strokes causing damage there, that becomes a central pain issue and is much different for pain management.

The starting dose of therapeutic use of methylcobalamin is 1mg (1000mcg) per day on an empty stomach. If testing shows you are very low in B12, 5mg a day is better to restore you more quickly. B12 does not have a toxicity profile so you can use either --stop all supplements at least a week before any testing so you don't get a falsely elevated reading.

Yarrow Formulas Methylcobalamin B-12 chewables come in 5000mcg dosage, and since there is little history of toxicity resulting from such a dosage that's what I began with and intend to stick with. Yarrow also is the manufacturer of B-Right complex, an excellent accompaniment.

Magnesium is also probably a good idea. I use Slow Mag tablets, twice daily, in concert with Morton Epsom Lotion applied liberally to the extremities which tends to stimulate capillary dilation allowing the oral greater effectiveness from increased blood flow. I prefer the lotion to the Epsom bath as a matter of practicality, as in my case it's physically easier to rub lotion than climb in and out of a bathtub.

You might also try Acetyl L-carnitine, starting with the one capsule 500mg dose, upping by 500mg per day, topping off at 2000mg for a month. All of the products mentioned are available through Amazon.com.
