Wheelchair FTW

I used to be a super fit 7 day a week gym junkie, lifting huge weights. I'm a black belt in Shotokan karate. Then I turned 40.

Since then I've had various surgeries and treatments for, initially, L5/6 herniated disc (yes I have a bonus one). After 12 months' conservative treatment I had a microdiscectomy then ALIF, followed by L6/S1 ALIF followed by unrelenting nerve pain in both legs, severe sciatica & inflammatory processes (tenosynovitis etc). I'm on Lyrica 300mg/day, 6 x slow release paracetamol/day, Lexapro 20mg/day & curcumin as an anti-inflammatory as the Neproxin made me bruise & nosebleed too much.

I was using a waking stick, then one forearm crutch, then two. I couldn't walk properly, I couldn't carry anything, I couldn't move normally. I felt like a cripple. Then my GP and physio had "the" conversation about wheels.

I've had my Quickie Q7 chair for almost 2 months now and I HAVE MY LIFE BACK. I'm back doing weights, karate training & cardio. For those of you struggling & hoping it never comes to using a wheelchair, don't despair. I'm here to tell you it can be a liberating move.

Best of luck to all going through pain and diagnostic processes. I still don't have the answer as to what's going on in my body, but at least now I'm not sitting back watching it fall apart [emoji12]
