B 12 Deficiency Recovery
Hello,
I read the Roseannster web site and many posts here and it seems recovery from symptoms of B12 deficiency varies. Is 2 1/2 years normal to get relief from much of the problems but to still have ongoing issues that wax and wane . When I finally went to a doctor that tested mine it was 342 she said that was still normal just a little low.I had severe fatigue, couldnt sleep from pain in legs and arms, numbness tingling in feet and hands lost 25 lbs in a short time electric shocks in my big toes , head aches and vertigo , sternum pain severe lower back pain and knee pain among other things No doctor ever addressed b 12 I was give one shot because I brought it up and was denied another when I thought it seemed to help.Offered pain meds and anti depressants but no more shots. After months of this my skin started burning in arms and legs and torso as well as neck and chin.Stumbled across adoctor in a tiny office that said she would give me injections every day for a month and then weekly and monthly. After a month I staed to feel better and that it went down hill and its taken 2 plus years to get some of my life back. I take b complex , fish oil , phostatydal choline , and monthly shots daily sublingual. Should I be alarmed that Im not fully recovered? Thanks |
Hello and welcome to the NeuroTalk Support Groups.
You may have read these areas of the forum before, but I thought I'd just post them here in case you haven't Vitamins, Nutrients, Herbs and Supplements Forum STICKY - The Vitamin B12 Thread: from PN Forum |
If the injections were cyano form (the common synthetic)...and
you have the DNA mutation of MTHFR...methylation, you will be unable to activate the shots normally and hence they won't work. Try oral methylcobalamin B12... 5mg a day on an empty stomach for 3 months and then get retested. You should be at a level of 1000 or so. Stop all B12 for a week before the testing, so you will not show false elevations in the level. Monthly shots do not work for everyone well. Some do not do well on them. For those people, oral is the best way to go. The oral is online, and locally now at Costco and Walgreen's. It is quite inexpensive. |
I take Hydroxycobalamin shots and methyl sublingual 1000mcg per day.I was retested and it was over 2000 . Not sure its crazy thanks ill check these links
