Spinal Cord Stimulator for burning pain
Hi there,
Was wondering if anyone here has had a spinal cord stimulator implanted. I have severe burning neuropathy in my legs and feet. I also suffer from thermal allodynia (temperature changes cause pain) and tactile allodynia (pain from clothing, bedsheets). The cause of my neuropathy is lyme disease. My pain levels average between 6-8. I am unable to tolerate any clothing on my legs at all. Does anyone out there have similar symptoms and get relief from a stimulator?? I have tried many drugs for this condition including antidepressants, anticonvulsants, narcotic pain meds, topical medications, etc. While some drugs have offered relief, the side effects are unbearable. So now I am at a point where the stimulator seems like my only option. So, if you have a spinal cord stimulator, I would love to hear of any success you have had with it. Sorry, but I would rather not get messages from people who did not get relief or any horror stories. I am looking for some encouragement as I feel very hopeless. Thanks for reading :) |
Mortons Epsom Salt Lotion
allowed me to start using bedsheets on my feet. Ken in Texas.

I certainly realize everyone's issues are the same but different. I ended up with burning spinal stenosis pain after a hip replacement in 2010. Lord know what goes on when we are on those operating tables. And I also ended up with Femoral Nerve Damage on the incision thigh and to this day my thigh is 80% numb but in the last few months got rid of the BURN with Inosine and Sphingolin which were suggested by a naturopath.
On the spinal burn, I know a year's worth of acupuncture by an integrative rheumatologist pretty much got rid of the burn, and specific PT work for spinal stenosis. Now my issues are different from others, of course, but this is what helped me to get along better now. There are many links on acupuncture and nerve damage. For me, I'd do about everything before invasive stimulators. Good luck regardless. |

Wow that's great!! You have no idea how happy I am to hear that! Thanks for making my day :) |
Thanks Caroline :) I've tried it all including 18 months of acupuncture and supplements unfortunately...

I was ready & willing but in the end unable to have one installed. I passed the psychologist part but failed the MRI so I was deemed not a candidate.
I researched it and actually found many people that friends or family knew that had great success with them. In the end I had 3 disks fused six months ago. While not all my pain is gone for the first time in almost 5 years it doesn't kill me to wear socks or shoes. I'd still rather be in sandals or bare feet but it is slowly improving. Good luck I hope it works for you, I really thought it was going to be my answer. |
Thanks Mike! Glad you found some relief :)
