Hey everyone :)

Hey everyone,

Really happy to have found your site, very friendly and welcoming :)
I've just been diagnosed with possible Temporal Lobe Epilepsy (eg) my neuro is very sure this is the case, but I am awaiting MRI and EEG to see if anything shows up.)

I've been struggling lately not knowing for sure if I do have epilepsy...it makes a lot of sense and I think I've probably had simple partial seizures for a large portion of my life. As a child I remember having moments of strong emotion in my stomach i couldn't describe, a sense of unreality that would only last a few moments and so on. In the last few years I began to see lights-a purple light that dances in front of my eyes usually when I'm lying in bed, making patterns. Also I see white lights which move and reform around objects and people at times. I've struggled with headaches and feeling generally 'off' for years.

The last few months have become worse...I had to leave my job and move in with my partner due to my inability to cope. I began experiencing altered mind states that scared me half to death and delusions/slight hallucinations. I couldn't cope with the strange feelings and thought I must have a psychological/psychiatric problem. The psychiatrist disagreed and I finally saw a neuro. :)

Now, I can see the seizure pattern, and I can understand the strange head sensations/nausea/dissasociation/twitches (yep, I've begun to twitch/spasm too) and not react with full on panic. Which is good! After a simple partial I feel pretty confused for what can be up to a few hours.

Sometimes I still need reassurence though after something new pops up or happens, and especially with these tests comming up (I'm clautrophobic...mri eeep!) So...that's why i've joined :p

Sorry this is so long and thanks for the great community! Look forward to meeting you all. :)

Welcome to NT, Luna :) although I am sorry you have to be here at all.

Although I am mainly here to deal with my rsd/crps, I, too, have epilepsy. I was dx'ed about six months ago, so I have a lot of the same questions you do. I look forward to learning with you!

Cool name, Luna! Does that mean you go around mooning people in frigid cold???;)

It's good to know that you've finally gained a little grip on your symptoms. Sometimes it seems like the not knowing is worse than what's happening (I have MS, it's a real adventure).

Jump in anywhere and if you have any questions or need a little help, just ask, everyone here is supportive and friendly. Only one person bites, and that's me!;)

Heehee, I hadn't considered the implications of my name before, but now you've given me the idea Cindy...!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone, I look forward to making use of this fabulous site. I can tell it's a supportive place and that's awesome!

See you all around, :)

Yes, Welcome to the site, winter_luna. Always nice to see another Aussie on board. :D

Love your name, by the way. Very apt! We actually had two full moons in June this year down here.

I'm hoping you get some answers soon.
