medication question.
Hello. So I was wondering if anyone has any good/bad results with this medication. I just started pregablin 25 mg and working my way up to 75mg. Then they gave me ropinirole for muscle spasms/cramps. I have an assorted nueroligical symptoms and the Dr does not no what's wrong with me. But this stuff may help me .

I personally had to stop and went with gabapentin because i could handle the side effects better. Everyone responds different, just be careful and ask people you know if you seem different. I see your doctors are looking to start you up slowly which is good. Lyrica is really being pushed now as the drug of choice for nerve related pain. Even seeing commercials on TV for it now. That said, some people have gotten great relief from Lyrica. It's worth a shot if you have great pain. |
Long term I found Lyrica's brain drain on me too much to continue, though I was only aware of the extent of it after missing two doses. I'd have to see a major uptick in symptoms to go back, but never say never.
It was crucial for me in my process of "learning to live" with this. It is a personal thing, getting there. Perhaps you will find a certain amount of Lyrica works for you and allows you to function. I just was at a point where it was losing efficacy, I knew I couldn't go up in dosage without having to give up driving and slept through two doses. Knowing I could always go back I decided to titrate off (with Doctor's knowledge and begrudging ok). For a short time in early 2014 I took ropinorole as well, as my neurologist at the time thought RLS was a contributing factor and it would help with my spasming. It didn't agree much with me. I hope you find some relief with them. Best of luck, Jon |

they are using repinrole for Muscle spasms? I don't have restless leg. He ruled out that. But he said for spasms. 2- 25 mg at bed time. |
They could be. I didn't and don't think it is RLS, but when I relayed that I was waking my wife with my kicking on occasion that was his read.
I don't know enough about the drug to say if it could act on spasms, but I suppoae it could have that mechanism of action. The most successful medication I have found for my spasms was valium. It was the same provider as the ropinerole, but it was his nurse when I was passed down. I was on it for a month. They insisted daily usage for my condition. I did not want a benzo issue on my shoulders, though if my spasms were to get unmanagable again I would consult a doctor about valium. I did make note of the success of it to my primary and my new neurologist. For my body, my system, ropinerole was too rough. I took it at night and it left me groggy in the AM in an unmanagable way. Who knows how much was complicated by my morning dose of Lyrica. I hope you find something that allows you to find a reasonable level of relief. I had a roller coaster year. Some serious twists and turns. I have some stability, thoughthe turn to winter is ramping everything up. I have an understanding family and to this point. I take tramadol and topamax at the moment and while I would prefer low medication I recognize the need for it at times. I'm rambling, rumbling, bumbling, perhaps even stumbling (sorry Chris Berman) but I hope you find relief. Jon |

Nothing on the medication front. I use epsom salt lotion on really bad days. Before my hands became troublesome I self massaged my legs more. Now it is all about the right mix of movement and rest.
That is such an individualized mix, as is the treatment model. I love my ottoman at home. A good friend at work gave me an okd sewing table sort of one I use at work. It fits under my desk and at one point this year was impossible to work without. I hope you find a mix that works for you, whatever that includes. Jon |

Yes thanks for sharing. I am doing well on the meds. Just upped the pre gablin to 75x daily . But still get burning in my left Leg. Which has got me to think maybe it is not muscle spasms I am having. I thought muscle spasms tighten your leg? My lower leg has burning randomly. Then I feel a tingling in a spot that goes up the upper leg? Into the buttock .
